On September 30 and October 1, 2021, the Congolese CAC, a newly established body in the country, carried out its first session of accountability for cases of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) and serious AEFI recorded during the vaccination campaign of children from 0 to 5 years old with the Novel Oral Polio Vaccine type 2 (nOPV2). The experts of this committee were able to treat around ten cases (AFP and serious AEFI).

Note that the Republic of the Congo is one of the pilot states using nOPV2, under an Emergency Use Listing authorization. A next causal analysis session is scheduled in two (2) weeks, while the vaccine safety surveillance teams is collecting the files to be submitted to the experts
